Meet our new recruit, Betty

Betty SidwellWe recently appointed Elizabeth Sidwell (Betty) as an Operations Executive at our Bangor office and had a sit down and a cuppa with her to find out her story…

She said: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, don’t settle. As with matters of the heart you’ll know when you find it and I believe I have found it with Abacare.

“Four years ago life was so different. I was married, living in the West Midlands and working in Education with children with special educational needs. Then at the age of 49 my whole world was torn apart, my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I took a sabbatical from work to care for him at home until his death.

“Wales had always been a part of my life beginning with family holidays as a child to bringing my own children to visit this beautiful part of the world, and it was one of my dreams to retire and spend my autumn and winter years in a place that always felt like home.

“At 51 I took the biggest decision of my life, I decided to follow my dreams, I sold my house in the West Midlands and brought a bungalow in a tranquil village called Fairbourne, surrounded by majestic mountains and the air is filled with the sound of the crashing surf and the song of the gulls.

“I took time savoring my passions of photography and writing, often thinking if I would ever be happy again, if my smile would return to my face but little did I know what life had in store for me.

“Who would have thought that at the age of 52 I would be living my dream, a total change of career, working with the most amazing, incredible team supporting our awe inspiring clients.

“Since joining Abacare the smile has returned to my face and the air is filled with my laughter. I can truly say I am happy and looking forward to the future.”
