106-year-old believed to be one of oldest nationwide to remain in own home
One-hundred-and-six-year-old Searson Thompson from Aberdyfi is believed to be one of Wales’ and the UK’s oldest men to remain living in his own home (January, 2018).
Searson, who recently (December, 2017) celebrated turning 106-years-old, receives regular visits from our carers and we believe it is very important that elderly people are able to remain in the comfort of their own homes.
His granddaughter, Alice Thompson, said: “My grandfather is very lucky to still be living in his own home and it is thanks to the care provided by Abacare that he can do so. He has carers who visit him on a regular basis and provide any help and support he needs, which is vital, as without them he would possibly have to move into a home, leaving behind his home comforts and the wonderful view of the Dyfi estuary that he enjoys from his window.
“It is fantastic that he has recently celebrated his 106th birthday and he received lots of visits from friends and family. He also received a card from the Queen to go with the other two he already has.”
Ffion Evans, Registered Manager at our Bangor office, said: “We think it is extremely important that anyone receiving care from us is able to remain in the comfort of their own home, as it is better for their independence and physical and mental well-being. It is something we are passionate about and can help families make this a reality for their loved-ones.
“Searson is a well-loved service user of ours and we would like to wish him a very happy birthday and congratulate him on reaching such a huge milestone.”
