Carers are braced for cold weather and snow
Our carers are this week (February 5, 2018) braced for yet more cold spells of weather and will ensure service users are warm enough in their homes even if it snows heavily.
Our staff always take into account the weather conditions when visiting service users and will go above and beyond to make sure everyone they look after is warm, well fed and hydrated. They also promise to reach all service users despite any heavy snow.
It looks set to be a very cold week with potential snow forecast and in cases like this we are always ready and well prepared, so our service users can rest assured we won’t let them down. Our carers will be briefed to make sure all service users are warm enough, have eaten well and have had plenty to drink and before they leave they will check that the service user has easy access to blankets, hot drinks and hot water bottles.
There is a risk of snow, but this won’t stop us as we promise to reach all service users, whatever the weather. We become like an emergency service during bad weather situations, ensuring we don’t leave people without the vital care they need. We are committed to offering high quality care to individuals in their own homes and will continue to do this despite bad weather.
Obviously we take our carers’ health and safety into serious consideration and if they can’t make it in we find one of our other carers who can.
In the past one of our carers has been driven around to her care calls by a helpful neighbour after she couldn’t drive her car and we’ve even taken a carer to work by tractor before!
We would like to give a special mention and huge thanks to all our dedicated carers for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our service users are looked after even in adverse weather conditions. We are lucky and very proud to have such a great team.
