Carer Spotlight: Jodie Evans

Specialism: Care Coordinator of the Year Award winner at the Care Heroes Awards, 2019

Branch: Bangor

Time in the industry: Jodie has worked for Abacare since 2014.

Jodie was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 just as we were about to enter a large tender with Anglesey council. Jodie has worked through all of her treatment, even when she was hospitalised. She was still on her laptop, doing rotas and taking calls from her hospital bed.

Throughout her treatment, which she is still undergoing, she has had minimal days away from the office and worked through a very complicated transfer process of staff and service users. She always puts her staff and service users first, even when she is struggling with her own health issues. She is a dedicated coordinator for the company, the staff and her service users.

We have received a number of emails and numerous phone calls from the local authority expressing gratitude for the work Jodie has done in ensuring that people receive the care that they need and, in particular, in going above and beyond to enable people to return home from hospital in end of life situations. We couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of the award. Jodie is a real credit to the company.
