As well as Christmas, December also means it’s Christmas market time. We love nothing more at this time of year than perusing stalls filled with quirky decorations made by local craftspeople and seasonal snacks from artisan food producers.
There are many seasonal shopping events, markets and fayres taking place across Wales this month. We’ve put together a list of events taking place, so you can plan your festive shopping trips accordingly. Why not take an elderly relative, neighbour or friend and help them with their shopping too?
Swansea Christmas Market is now on until Sunday, December 22 in its usual spot on Oxford Street. You can pick up a selection of unique gifts, jewellery, home décor, handcrafted glass and ceramic items, personalised items and cheese, wine and homemade chocolates.
There’s also a Bavarian bar and German grill complete with cosy festive seating area.
On Sunday, December 8 Wales’ Biggest Christmas Fair will be taking place at the LC2 in Swansea from 10am.
There will be more than 100 stalls selling lots of different items from cakes to candles, bath bombs, personalised gifts and more.
It’s great for a family day out as the first 50 children will receive a free goody bag and can visit Santa in his grotto. There will also be a bouncy castle and coffee shop on-site for refreshments.
The event has been organised to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Cardiff Christmas Market is back until Monday, December 23. Browse beautifully decorated wooden stalls full of original, handmade work.
Stalls can be found in St John Street, Working Street, Hills Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes from Monday – Saturday from 10am – 6pm and on Sundays from 10am – 5pm.
More than 120 artisan stalls will be exhibiting the best Welsh produce and crafts at the Italianate Village. There will also be seasonal cooking demonstrations, musical entertainment and a grotto on December 6 from 9.30am – 5pm.
Hft Flintshire learning disability support service is hosting its annual traditional Christmas fair at Hwb Cyfle, Chester Road West, Queensferry, Flintshire, CH5 1SA on Saturday, December 14 from 12noon – 4pm.
Visitors will be able to browse Christmas crafts and gifts as well a food items. Entry is £1 or free for under 16-year-olds.
