Harriet joins us in time to provide care for Christmas
Harriet Carter from Holyhead has recently (December, 2017) joined us as a carer in time to provide care during the Christmas period.
Christmas is our busiest time of the year and Harriet will be helping to ensure our service users still receive expert care during the festive period.
She said: “I am thrilled to have joined the Abacare team and I have thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth training I have received and learnt lots, which I’m now able to put to the test by visiting service users and providing the services they need.
“To be in a position in time for Christmas is great too as it has rounded off the year nicely for me. I can now go into 2018 with the opportunity to advance in my career and potentially gain new qualifications.
“Joining a company that is committed to promoting from within and helping to advance its employees’ careers was a real attraction to me as I hope to work in the industry for many more years to come.”
Amanda Dingli, Recruitment and HR Officer at Abacare said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Harriet to the team. She has settled in extremely well and taken to her new role with ease. She is a kind, honest and reliable individual, which is something we look for in all new recruits, and we are sure she will go really far in her career with us.
“At this time of year we are recruiting heavily as it is our busiest period and it is vital that our service users receive the same excellent care now as they do throughout the rest of the year.
“No experience is necessary to become a carer as we offer free, full training, which includes a company induction, first aid, information on dementia, health and safety, food safety, infection control, handling medication and moving and handling service users, with the opportunity to achieve Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) after the initial six months probationary period.
“New recruits are given free uniforms, access to national staff discount scheme for all major brands as well as 28 days paid holiday, paid travel between calls and paid mileage.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a career or someone who just fancies a bit of a change. Being a carer is an extremely rewarding job and you get to meet lots of wonderful people too.
“We’re also offering FaceTime or Skype interviews to candidates in order to meet the demands of the modern jobseeker. Our view is that busy people wanting a career change can ‘meet’ us via FaceTime or similar applications and find out about the roles we have to offer, as well as meet a couple of team members and, if they are about, also say ‘hello’ to a carer too.”
